UI Changes

  • SNMP global settings (including SNMP alerts) have been removed from Tools > Settings > General and have been added to a new SNMP tab that appears when you select a Service Host Object in the tree view. For more information, see SNMP Tab Cheat Sheet.
  • A new option has been added to Tools > Settings > Portal as shown below.
  • This option enables a printer to be installed from the Self-service Portal even if the user logged into the computer does not have rights to the printer. For more information, see Portal Settings Cheat Sheet.

Fixed Issues

  •  IIS no longer crashes every 20-30 minutes under heavy loads.
  • When applying Windows updates, the Printer Installer client no longer deletes the PrinterLogic port monitor.
  • A Windows 7 patch combined with a modification to the Printer Installer client enables the client to communicate with a FIPS/CC compliant Printer Installer server.
  • NOTE: Printer Installer no longer supports protocols older than TLS 1.2.

  •  The print spooler no longer crashes when the printer is printing large documents.
  • Emails will be sent, as designed, even when the Admin Console Outbound SMTP credentials (Username and Password) are left blank.
  •  The Control Panel Application user interface now appears correctly on Toshiba printers.
  • The user PIN is now saved for Toshiba and Lexmark drivers.
  • The Control Panel Application appears in the correct size when installed on HP printers.
  • Advanced Groups "exclude" option functions as designed with Active Directory users/groups.
  • On HP printers, badges that were registered prior to v18.2 now function with an 18.2 release.
  • On Dell/Lexmark printers, the Control Panel Application now functions correctly when you click the printer's Home button.
  • A false positive for cross-site scripting vulnerabilities scans has been fixed.
  • The Control Panel Application now functions on all supported Lexmark devices.

Known Issues

  • On Mac, printers restricted by Active Directory group may not appear for users in that group.

NOTE: You cannot upgrade directly from 15.1 (or older) to 18.1. You must upgrade to 16.1 or 17.1 before upgrading to 18.1.

New Features

  • Printer Installer client now supports Redhat.
  • Printer Installer client supports Ubuntu 15 and 16.
  • Printer Installer now uses service hosts for mobile and email printing.
  • We now meet color contrast requirements found within the Section 508 guidelines.
  • We now support the keyboard navigation found within the Section 508 guidelines.
  • You now have the option to set up Non Single Sign-on for Toshiba printers.
    • For Non Single Sign-on, Toshiba customers must have the latest firmware and a patch available from Toshiba. Please contact Toshiba for more information.

Fixed Issues

  • Xerox Workcenter 775 printers are no longer having issues with Printer Installer.
  • SMTP settings now work correctly for Gmail.
  • You can register printers with Google Cloud Print without any issues.
  • Multiple files open on Mac no longer causes the Admin Page to hang.
  • Scheduled Reports no longer shows blank results (unless no results are found).
  • Socket Server setting in the General Settings no longer automatically unchecks.

Known Issues

  • Printer Installer 18.1 is experiencing high CPU usage, which can cause performance issues. A fix is currently in progress.
  • Badge authentication may not work correctly with various Toshiba printers.
  • Client installation prompt appears even if the client has already been installed on Safari for computers using Mac Sierra.
  • Sorting the Print Job Records report by Color Duplex or Pages results in a 500 error (Internal Server Error).
  • Release Portal application fails to launch on Chromebook. Note that you can still browse to the Release Portal directly from a web browser.
  • Email file attachments are not printing correctly in the Mobile Printing module.
  • If you rename a group in Active Directory and then change the group name in Advanced Groups, Printer Installer does not retain the new Advanced Group name.

As new versions of Printer Installer are released, previous versions will be available and supported according to the following schedule.
