Update the Client HomeURL

The client's HOMEURL is the PrinterLogic server to which your client is pointing. In other words, it tells the client where to check in to receive printer driver deployments, updates, and so on. The HOMEURL is generally something the administrator sets and does not need to change again. However, if you do need to update it because, for example, you changed the DNS name of the PrinterLogic server, the HOMEURL can be updated in one of two ways for both Windows and Mac. The following is a list of reasons the HOMEURL may change.

  • when clients are deployed automatically.
  • whenever you visit the Self-service Portal and perform some action such as clicking a printer to install it.
  • when it is updated by command line arguments during installation or re-installation using the .msi installer.
  • when you perform certain tasks in the Admin Console such as managing profiles, uploading drivers, importing printers from a print server, Active Directory management, and so on.

Option 1: Windows - Change HOMEURL via Self-service Portal

  1. Open the Self-service Portal using the desired new HOMEURL.
  2. Select any printer, and then click Install Printer.
  3. The HOMEURL is set.

  4. When the Install confirmation prompt appears, click Yes or No as needed.

Option 2: Windows - Change HOMEURL via Command Line

The following script will change the HOMEURL.

HTTP Script for PrinterLogic

\\server\share\PrinterInstallerClient.msi HOMEURL=http://new.NewHomeURL.com REINSTALLMODE=vomus REBOOT=ReallySupress REINSTALL=ALL /qn /norestart

HTTPS Script for PrinterLogic

\\server\share\PrinterInstallerClient.msi HOMEURL=https://new.NewHomeURL.com REINSTALLMODE=vomus REBOOT=ReallySupress REINSTALL=ALL /qn /norestart

Option 3: Mac - Change HOMEURL via Self-service Portal

  1. Open the Self-service Portal using the desired new HomeURL.
  2. Select any printer, and then click Install Printer.
  3. When the Install confirmation prompt appears, select No.

Option 4: Mac - Change HOMEURL via Terminal

Open the terminal on the workstation and run the following command with either HTTP or HTTPS:

sudo /opt/PrinterInstallerClient/bin/set_home_url.sh http NewHomeURL.com

The HOMEURL is now set to the URL used to access the Self-service Portal.
